Meet your adoptable dog of the week, NYC! Her name is Penelope and she’s ready to steal some hearts!
Penelope here is a white and light tan mutt (the shelter thinks she may be a Poodle/Shih-Tzu/Maltese mix). This sweet girl will be turning 2 years old before the year is out. Her previous owners never properly trained her so her puppy energy is still in abundance. With that said, the shelter staff has been working on basic obedience commands and she’s been doing fantastic.
Penelope is house trained and she can now sit and she loves to roll over (sometimes without command). Funny fact about this little girl: She loves a good bath! Can you believe that?! Penelope prefers to be the only pet in her new home. She has come a long way since she first arrived at HSNY but still gets a little too excited around other dogs and the staff feel as though it’s best for her to be the one and only shining animal star of the home.
For more information about Penelope, contact the Humane Society of New York located at 306 East 59th St. (between 1st and 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan or drop them a line by calling 212-752-4810.
