The Tri-State area made new strides by accepting pets in most evacuation shelters for people. Allowing pets to accompany their owners definitely contributes to a higher level of compliance – and saves lives.
Now the local animal shelters need your help, the Staten Island shelter had to be completed evacuated, and intakes are overwhelming. These organizations, often staffed by volunteers need help with donations. Not just financial contributions but some things that you may have jamming up a closet, like blankets, unused pet carriers, wire crates, or towels.
