Dear Guru:
My brother, mom, grandma and I go to Minnesota every summer for a month. We originally live in Washington. Then, after that month is up, my brother and I go down to Colorado to visit my dad. I’m planning on getting a Shih Tzu, whether a puppy, or adolecent. Should I wait to get that dog until after the vacation, so the dog doesn’t have to go through the vacation with me?

Dear Taylor:
Thank you for taking the time to ask.
Good question. Depending on the age of puppy and where it is coming from (breeder, rescue, etc…) I could be more specific with more details. But as a rule of thumb , when getting a puppy/dog if possible the first 3 days should be in your home, I like to say 5 weeks before traveling for more than a day. I hope this helps.
